A timing chain that connects the camshaft and the crankshaft in a vehicle engine (such as in an automobile) and coordinates the opening and closing of the engine's valves. The timing chain ensures that the piston, crankshaft and valves, including the camshaft, work together in harmony. It transfers the rotational motion of the crankshaft to the camshafts. The timing of the opening and closing of the cylinder valves is crucial in a typical four-stroke engine. If the timing chain is stretched (or even torn), it can no longer perform this task and, in the worst case, even lead to engine damage.

1.Open the packaging, check the products carefully, and take them gently.

2.Remove the negative electrode cable of the battery.

3.Remove the front hood of the engine and the parts that hinder the operation.

4.Turn the bend so that the 1st cylinder piston is in the compressed top dead center position, and align the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket, as shown in Figure 1. There are two timing marks on the camshaft sprocket, one is the first cylinder piston in the top dead center timing mark, then the first cylinder inlet valve and exhaust valve are closed; Second, the fourth cylinder piston is in the top dead center when the timing mark, then the fourth cylinder intake valve and exhaust valve are in the closed position. Make sure you know which cylinder is at top dead center of compression.

5.Remove the bolts on the camshaft sprocket, and remove the timing chain and camshaft sprocket.

6.If the crankshaft sprocket needs to be replaced, use the puller to remove the sprocket. When installing the new sprocket, the chain and chain slot should be aligned to prevent loosening.

7.Install the timing chain on the camshaft sprocket, fix the sprocket, make the chain suspended, align the timing mark on the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket. Align the locating pin holes on the sprocket with the locating pin holes on the camshaft, and then install the sprocket on the camshaft. Camshaft sprocket bolt tightening torque is 20N·m.

8.Use oil to lubricate the timing sprocket and chain.

9.Turn the crankshaft twice to check whether the engine timing mark is aligned. If the timing markers are not aligned, repeat the preceding steps
